This is not really a reel—at least, it’s not usually played as a dance tune. It’s an old harp piece published in one of the Bunting collections, usually played as an air, with a feel similar to a slow reel. This version is transcribed from Grainne Yeat’s excellent album, The Belfast Harp Festival, on which she reconstructs harp styles from that gathering in 1792.
Lyrics?
I’VE ONLY HEARD A FEW INSTRUMENTAL RENDITIONS OF THIS AND ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT, AND WAS WONDERING IF IT HAS ANY ACCOMPANYING LYRICS? OR IF ANYONE JUST KNOWS A LITTLE MORE ABOUT THIS PIECE….
THANKS!
