This is a slow air and not a reel and was posted as a response to a request here.
This lovely tune was actually composed by Paul Machlis, a keyboard player who has accompanied Alisdair Fraser on previous occasion.
If you play it like a reel the A-part’s like the Foxhunter’s. Can’t be a coincidence surely…
I hadn’t noticed this but I really only play the jig version of FH. It does have some similarity to the second part of the reel though.
Bennachie sunrise
I’d never seen this site, but needed to check on a trad tune, and then thought I’d see if any of my tunes were in. As for Bennachie, any similarity to Foxhunter’s is indeed a coincidence, but when I came up with the tune, I was a bit uncomfortable with its similarity to the Four Season’s hit “Walk like a Man!” Perhaps someday Rudy Vallee will do a cover of it. Re: Bennachie Sunrise
I am experimenting with oboe and cello, and will probably add a fiddle to the three, for a New Folk sound. (Orrighty, orright, its probably been done by thousands of other “new folkies”.
