Rattle His Bones

A brand new reel (July 2005). I’m still not entirely sure about the third part - the idea is right, maybe some of the notes need altering a bit and I think the ‘strum’ effect can be replaced by occassionally a single long chord for a bit of variety in repeats.

I’m never entirely sure how these tunes come together in my head. The opening phrase has just a hint of Bach’s Double Violin Concerto in D minor - it was my favourite tune when I was ten - not the first time a bit of Bach has entered the traditional world (last summer Com O’Rua was getting us to play an excerpt from a Bach Canata as a Slip Jig!).

I think this tune also has a little bit of the Gravel Walks about it - another of my favourite tunes. So maybe all I’ve done is combine two aspects of two other really good tunes.

Have fun with it anyhow!

Great Tune!

This is a wonderful tune! It really sounds good.

Maybe drop the third part?

Just been back to have a look at this - now think the third part gets in the way. Anyhow it’s all up to whoever’s playing it 🙂
