Wexford reels

I picked these two reels up at a Des Carthy weekend in Dublin. Des was a well know Dublin fiddlers. They didn’t have thes right names - they just gave them the title Wexford reels - I think they are from the harmonica playing of Phil Murphy.
It would be great if anyone had the right names.

Raheen medley

2 reels from “The Raheen” medley on Kevin Burke’s “Up Close” LP. I posted the 2nd one - “Trip To Cullenstown”, and I think the other is here somewhere too, but can’t remember the title just now.

Not here ?

Can’t find the 1st of your 2 reels, so maybe it’s not here after all. It’s called “The Raheen”, but then so is the 3rd in the medley of 3, and it’s already been posted by Gian Marco.
Maybe you should delete the abcs for the 2nd tune, and re-title your first as “The Raheen”. Up to you. All the best.

This tune appears as the 1st of 3 in ‘The Murphy’s Selection’, being the first track of the album ‘Life in The Slow Lane’ by Seamus Bugler, Paddy O’Donoghue, Pat Mullins & Pat Costello.

Re: The Raheen

This tune is the ‘actual’ Raheen reel. Raheen is a place in the parish of Adamstown in the centre of County Wexford. It’s about 15 miles north of where the Murphy family are from in Ballygow.

The Raheen, X:3

This older setting of the Raheen reel is from an old cassette recording of the fiddler and traditional singer Jim Smith from Clongeen in Wexford. Jim is believed to have been the possible source for this reel, whether it was a composition of his or an old local tune will probably remain a mystery. Clongeen is about 5 miles or so from Raheen. The tape features a few other unusual tunes that I’ve already uploaded over the past number of months.
