John McEvoy’s other

This is the other of John McEvoy’s 2 reels from “The Kilmore Fancy”. On that particular CD, this is the 2nd tune, played after the “John McEvoy’s” I posted yesterday. “Macalla”, who recorded them in 1987, played this one first, into the other one, then back to this one, if you can follow what I mean. The change would seem to work both ways. High time both of these reels were played more.

Lovely, both of ’em. I’ll do what I can to get them played more at our local session. (Victory Cafe, Toronto).

Good man, Kenny!

John Wynne’s version

This is the version I got from John Wynne, which he got directly from John McEvoy. Has some subtle differences from the above:

John McEvoy’s reel

Kenny, and Niall…just found this on here (thanks to a friend’s App for identifying tune names). We’ve been playing it since about 1984/5, when we learned it from a recording made of Dermot McLaughlin and Dermot Byrne, playing in Edinburgh. (Elephant memory here!) I never had a name for the tune, and never heard anyone but ourselves and Nigel Jelks playing it. (And probably you too, Kenny!) They played it with Clancy’s Fancy.
