This is the Camel’s Hump
I was chewing the fat with Skip a couple weeks ago & we were chatting about Bill Black (Banjo-Zouk guy from Cape Cod Area). We got on the subject of how Bill’s written a gzillion tunes, that’s when he told me that "The Camel’s Hump" which he paired with his own tune Purgatory Chasm on the title track of his last album was a Bill Black tune. Mr. Bill (as I call him) has this tune under copyright so you’ll have to dance in your underwear for him if you even think about recording it, although I think Skip just asked him & he said "OK".
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about the harmony/chords of this one… I listened to a clip on Skip’s site but it was mainly intro (didn’t even get to the B part).
Wild Asparagus does a recording called Camel’s Hump on their Call of the Wild cd…it is, however, a different tune than the one here. Does anyone know what that tune might actually be called?
Not the same tune.
The Wild Asparagus tune of the same name is by (I believe) Denny Novek. I think it is named for the mountain in New England and not the ship of the desert.
Same tune? Not the same tune.
I’ve just posted Danny Noveck’s "Camel Hump", which is on Wild Asparagus’ "Call of the Wild" and "Best of …".
Not in Cmajor but in Eweird…
