Mazurka la Pleau

Thanks to Kim for bringing along a couple of ‘new’ mazurkas today. This one is French. Not sure about exactly where it comes from or if anybody has recorded it.

Mazurka La Pleau

This Mazurka was recorded on Jack BRENNAN’S album ‘Piper’s Dream’ where he has titled it ‘The Dublin Mazurka’. It is in a set of three Mazurkas.

“The Massif Centraal Tune Book No.2” ~ tune #71

"a second collection of traditional dance music from Central France"

tune #71: Mazurka Lapleau

This is a great collection in two volumes, highly recommended. The transcription given here on site follows that of the book note for note…a lovely tune. I had thought I had another name for this tune but so far have only found a few transcriptions of it by this name and nothing else…

Another take on it ~ minor variations:

Not unusual for someone to interpret the swing of 3/4 as 9/8. It has happened before and it will happen again. :-D

Bernard Loffet original transcription in 9/8, adjusted to 3/4 above - X: 3
