The Cream Pot

AKA "The Kirn Staff". On Geckoes "The Red Horse" 1999.
"In the William Vickers collection (c. 1770-1772); published in The Great Northern Songbook vol 1, edited by Matt Seattle."
S’nice.

Oops

Unfortunately Matt Seattle didn’t know at the time (1986) that this was a version of the tune better known as Miss Grace Hay’s Delight, and he did a botched job of editing it. And it was in the Great Northern Tune Book, not Songbook.

I love it ~ and without the anonymity of the confessional… So, Matthew, if I can be formal, when the hell are you going to re-edit and republish "The Great Northern Toonbook"? Whatever its ‘minor’ failings, it was a work that had to take some sweat and passion and a nice place to visit…

Contemporaneous version

Hi Matt, this is from Thompson’s Compleat Collection (c.1770 or thereabouts)
