Well, hello, I’m Nicole and this is the first tune I submit and the first tune I ever wrote in abc. So if there are any mistakes - sorry!
Here’s how I learned this hornpipe: One day, I was thinking about a friend and member of our local session who was in Glasgow at this time. Thinking about Glasgow made me immediately think about my boyfriend who studied there. Remembering a session in Glasgow where we went together I thought about learning some new tunes (my repertiore was not very big at that time, so I didn’t play so much at that night…). I felt like learning some old tunes, so I took my copy of “O`Neill’s Music of Ireland, Over 1000 Fiddle Tunes” and just opened it: An there it was right in front of me, the Glasgow Hornpipe! I know, this story sounds kind of weird, but it is true!
Anyway, I started playing the hornpipe and I thought that it is a really nice tune. I tried to find out if there were any recordings, but I couldn’t find one. The abc-notation I submit is the one you find in O’Neill’s.
Hope you enjoy the tune!
