Stranger at the Gate

A fine Benedict Koehler reel from Paddy O’Brien recording of the same name.

Another one of the Pigeon on the Gate/ Hut in the Bog family

You must have a different Paddy O’Brien recording of the same name than the one I have! The tune Paddy plays (at least on my record 🙂 ) is in Gm and nothing like what you have posted.

I suspect Benedict may have composed it in Am. I’ll find out from him and transcribe either Paddy O’Brien’s setting, or Benedict’s, and post in due course.

I transcribed this version from Barry Kerr’s youtube clip - it’s very, very different. Anyone know which is closer to the original?

AT LAST i work out what the tune is!!! I thought it was one of Barrys composition and have been bursting to learn this..
