Farewell to Devon

I noticed someone has added Margaret’s Waltz and it reminded me that we used to play the two tunes as a set.

The tune’s composer is Pat Shaw but I’ll show my ignorance and say I have no idea who Pat is but if anyone does please let me know.

Nice tune

Thanks for posting.

This is one of my favorite waltzes! Here’s some info on the composer, Pat Shaw. He was an English piano accordion player who created and composed wonderful dances for English country dancing. He was very involved in the English Folk Dance and Song Society, and helped to raise funds for Pinewoods Camp in Plymouth, MA. The dance, "Margaret’s Waltz," was "comopsed for Margared Grant on her retirement in 1959 as EFDSS representative in Devon," and is published in Pat Shaw Collection, Book 2, edited by Marjorie Fennessey. According to the dance notes, the tunes "Margaret’s Waltz" and "Farewell to Devon" are played consecutively for the dance.

Thanks

Thanks for the information. I never realised that both tunes were by the same composer.
