Spailpin Fanach

This is a really beautiful setdance danced in Irish dancing. It also goes by the name of “The Whistling Gypsy”, and is often played with a swung, dotted feel. Hope you like it!

Nice tune. Is this also the basis for John McKenna’s reel #2 (Happy Days of Youth)? The first part at least.

Setting #2 is transcribed from a session recording from Drumshanbo in 2011, played by two Leitrim concertina players.

Re: Spailpin Fanach

Is this a h/pipe version of Brighton Camp/Bride in camp/ The girl I left behind me?
