Written by a good friend of mine. I think it’s a lot of fun to play.
I’ve put together an mp3 of a synthesized version of it at
It’s not as good as a recorded session rendition, of course, but it gives you the idea. The "bodhran" is just the same measure over and over (with a rim-shot on the back-beat), and I added a stand-up bass to imply the chords. The main instrument is a (not bad sounding) synthesized concertina.
Not wild about the recording but the tune itself ain’t bad.
Flight of the Termite
This is not the Katie’s Reel that is recorded by Deanta in "The Flight of the Termite" set. Not even close.
That goes something like this:
|:DEDC A,3D|CB,CD EFG2|Addc AGFG|Addc d3e|
|f2ef defd|eaag a3g|f2ef dcAG|1F2EF D3C:|2F2EF D3G|
|Adde fedf|eaag a3g|f2ef dcAG|F2EF E3G|
|Adde fedf|eaag a3g|f2ef dcAG|1F2EF D3G:|2Addc d4|
I couldn’t get a perfect rendition. Anyone who thinks they can improve on this, feel free.
Nobody has said it was the "Katie’s" reel recorded by "Deanta", in fact the person who posted it has said above that it was written by a friend of his. If the "abcs" you’ve posted above are a different tune altogether, then you should post them as a tune in its’ own right, and say in the comments that it’s "Deanta’s" reel.
Clare is a different Katie’s
The tune listed as Katie’s on "It Was Mighty : CD #2", (where it was lilted by Dan Breen) is here, titled Clare (reel) at https://thesession.org/tunes/2524
