Great tune, as played on a great CD by Natalie McMaster
This is transcribed approximately as I heard it on “My Roots are Showing”. Great tune written by William Marshall, the 18th century Scottish composer….
Thanks for this. I have been trying to play it just from hearing it, but its nice to have the transcription. It is a great tune, but so is eveything on on “My Roots are Showing” … or maybe I just say so is everything she plays.
Probably mislabeled as a strathspey
I probably shouldn’t wander into Scottish musicology, but I think this is a slow reel, or hornpipe.
Love this tune. If you need practice with playing in B-flat, this is a good one to inspire confidence. It’s also just all-around a nice melody, and usually played at a fairly relaxed tempo.
