Three comments

I got this tune from Vincent McGrath’s album “O Chealtar Mo Chroi” (From the Core of My Heart) which is an album consisting of tunes composed by himself. This is one of them. The great thing about his compositions is that they all sound very Irish traditional unlike some more recent compositions which have elements of other traditions in them.

There is lots of room for variation in the tune. The last two bars could alternativley be played as:

|GFEC B,DDB,|EGFA G4|

The last two bars of part two could be played as:

|BGED B,DCE|DGFA G4|

The triplet in bar 6 could be played straight instead as:

|cA|

They are just some basic things to do with it.

Sleeve Notes

Here’s what Vincent writes in the sleeve notes of his album:

“The first time I played this was at a party in London on the occasion of my Aunt’s Golden Jubilee” 🙂

So that’s were the name comes from anyway. He follows it up with another of his self-composed flings called “Anthony Dick Gaughon’s” which I will post as soon as I learn it myself.
