"The Lads in the Loo"

This is for all those sessions in small rooms, virtual and real, at festivals and other venues usual and curious… πŸ˜‰

"The Lads in the Loo" ~ straight πŸ˜‰

You’re a regular Einstein!

Can I have your autograph Albert?

How much do you want for the rights to record it?

Damn, I meant to do all that under an alias, like Dow2…

Sorry folks, all that stuff previously wasn’t me, it was a visiting dignitary…

I’m actually distancing the space from anything Dow might put in here, like telling me it’s C Phrygian and really in 9/4… πŸ˜‰

Hell, it’s his sessioning night, I probably have nothing to worry about. Now Donough, that’s another thing, or Ptarm, or Button, or the whole scary lot of yuh… I’m not sharing the box of chocolates, go find your own… 😏

It’s lovely, ‘c’. You’re amazing!

Now I am worried…

Did you pick up on "The Boyz in the Hood" connection?

~ Cuz the boyz in the hood are alwayz hard
You come talkin’ that trash and we’ll pull your card
Knowin’ nothin’ in life but to be legit
Don’t quote me boy, cuz I ain’t said sh*t …

Bored as hell and I wanna get ill
So I go to a place where my homeboyz chill
The fellas out there try to make that dollar
I pulled up in the 64’ impala,
greeted with a 40 and I start drinkin’
And from the 8-ball my breath start stinkin’
I gotta get my girl to rock that body
Before I left I hit the bacardi ~

A things gotta have roots ~

Jus so’s my homeboyz know how the Dow drinks mental, dis is da tune he choze to comp wit dis one ~ shooze! ~

Damn stan, youz like a light, it’s in the same key… 😏

|: ADA ABc | ~ hmmm…and they both end on duh ‘d’… πŸ˜‰

(The smilie is offered up just in case anyone takes this seriously and feels the move to start poppin’ caps…)

If you played this as a jig, the rhythm would be similar, and it has a similar harmonic structure. Hey, don’t go pointing your spindly so-called fingers at me - I’m not the one who COPIED someone else’s tune and passed it off as my own πŸ˜€

There’s another similar tune as well. One that goes something like ~F3 ABc|ded cBA|B2E EDE|Bdc BAG|~F3 ABc|~d3 cBA|Bcd ecA|~d3 d2z but I can’t even think what the name is or what key it’s in.

Copied? ~ You mean your tune I’m suspecting, hell, copying is the best kind of flattery don’t you know?

Michael Burke’s Jig eh, what about the other one:

Johnny Doherty’s

As I’ve said elsewhere, what’s tradition without origins ~ the roots…

You’re going to be late for he session if you keep messing around here, or has it already been? If so, then you need your beauty sleep. You look like hell… πŸ˜‰

Hmm never met that Johnny Doherty tune before. I’ll have to have a proper look at it tomorrow though. Right now my head hurts. I’ve just got back. Funnily enough the first thing someone said to me when I arrived at the sesh was that I "looked like hell" and that I had a "vacant look". So, thanks for confirming that.
