Vincent McGrath Composition

This is on track two of Vincent McGrath’s CD. The first hornpipe in a set of two. It’s followed by his other composition “Paddy Noonan’s Hornpipe” which I will post as soon as I learn it by ear.

When I find the sleeve notes, I’ll post what he has to say about this tune.

It’s a nice simple tune. I didn’t really know how to submit the “bounciness” of a hornpipe in ABC but I’ve noticed many hornpipes are simply submitted like reels and I’m sure you’ll know how a hornpipe is meant to sound anyway.

Sleeves Notes from album

“This hornpipe came to me after one of my many trip to Kerry to visit accordion player Jack Doyle, from Foil, Camp, near tralee. Jack spent many years playing professionally in New York and Chicago before returning to Ireland in 1963. He is grand nephew of the legendary Kerry dancing master Professor James T McKenna”.
