My transcription of this tune from “Beyond Words” (Niall Vallely). This jig was requested last month by Ben Miller. I think it was composed by R.S MacDonald.
The last 8 bars are awesome if you can play them, but I think it’s hard on the whistle/flute. Anyway I’m practicing and it’s getting easier. Try!
hello 🙂 the midi file seems to skip about between repeats it’s quite confusing! goes straight to 2nd time bar in b part then after once through the c part it goes back to the start…skips both the 1st and second time bars and goes to the b part again, skips the next two repeat bars and moves to c and d. it really is a maze in there!

It does the same when I play the ABC through my ABC editor/player (EasyABC).
In case any-one hasn’t clocked this one, it seems to be a common ‘problem’ in tunes with
repeats (particularly 1st and 2nd repeats) and multiple parts (A, B, C, etc.). It happens
because transcribers don’t put in the explicit start repeat symbols ( |: ). Human musicians
will accept this, realise what is meant, and play the tune accordingly. Computer programs
aren’t so forgiving - they need the explicit repeats in there, otherwise the program which
generates the sound file will get it wrong. Try this (I put in the explicit start repeat and,
to labour the point, part names):
