The Boys of ’45

This tune is on the Kilfenora Céilí Band’s “Set in Stone” CD where it follows the Doon Reel. I couldn’t find the dots here so I’ve had a go at transcribing it from the CD and I hope the result is fairly accurate!

Thanks Kenny; Micko’s is very close but bars 3 and 4 are totally different as are bars 7 and 8 so in deference to the Kilfenora Céilí Band I’d argue that the Boys of ’45 is deserving of its separate identity in the pool of trad tunes.

I don’t usually step in on these “is it a different tune” debates, but Bannerman, although your version is slightly different than the sheetmusic of the first posting of this tune, check out the ABCs that Emily posted in the comments section of the first posting of this tune. She transcribed it from Jimmy Noonan’s “The Maple Leaf” and it’s almost identical to what you have posted here. Might be a triplet instead of a roll or something like that, but the same tune as far as I can tell.

I agree. It’s obviously the same tune.

I do believe this is the Doonagore Reel.
