The Four Courts

A track played by Buttons and Bows from the CD - ‘Traditional Music of Ireland’ (on Celtophile MWCELT 9). this jig was followed by ‘Katies Fancy’ as part of a 2 tune set.

Brian Rooney recorded this as "Paddy in London."

So did Tony O’Connell and Andy Morrow

is there another name for a jig called ‘paddy goes to london’?

have tried everywhere to find this. it begins with add def/abD DEF

Query…?

Are you sure about your "abcs", Sean ? A drop from high "b" to low "D" would be quite unusual.

Re-interpret the ABCs

Kenny - I think I recognise that tune. If you take it that the small letters are lower octave, and the big letters upper octave, it sounds pretty familiar to me … not time to go look …

I thought so!

A common session tune - the Norbeck version (not the one on this site) is the more common, in my experience. The "Paddy in London" listed on this site is basically a version of *this* tune, ie The Four Courts. No question, the two tunes are related, but I think they’re sufficiently different to be classed as different tunes.

Here’s the link - look for "Paddy in London":
