Nine comments

This Paddy Fahey reel is played by Liz and Yvonne Kane, track #8 on their second cd called "Under the Diamond".

As a variation, they like to play that D2 in bar A4 as a double-stop with the open A string.

This is also on the debut recording of East Galway fiddler Breda Keville. The last tune on track 6 if I’m not mistaken.

Paddy Fahey’s reel

JACKB, your setting is identical to the one posted by errik eight years ago apart from two notes. Do you think it’s worth posting a setting which is almost exactly the same?

This reel is on Eilis Crean’s album, "The Lonesome Fiddler," followed by Sergeant Early’s Dream/With Her Long Hair Flowing Down Her Back.

alpine rabbit: "Is this the same tune?"

No. The tune they’re playing is what some people call "Paddy Fahey’s Reel No.3". Have a look at https://thesession.org/tunes/150 for background information, particularly Kenny’s comment.

Re: Paddy Fahey’s

I thought I had looked at them all. This one seemed to share a motif.

Ah well - off to play it

Paddy Fahey’s

This is from Dave Flynn’s album, "Contemporary Traditional Irish Guitar". I tried to contact Dave to ask but I believe that this must be a Fahey tune composed after the Maria Holohan dissertation and that Dave used her index as a reference to title this Paddy Fahey’s No. 30. There are many other Fahey tunes on this recording and the others do match the Holohan index.
