A great tune.
You don’t see many tunes like this out there, and that’s exactly what’s so great about it!
Duh? ~ there could be a reason for that… :-/
Twinkie, are you the same person as bodhran guy? And this is one of your own compositions, I presume… as opposed to being a nameless traditional tune you picked up at a session somewhere. Is that what you wanted us to think?
No, I don’t know who twinkie is, no, this isn’t one of my own compositions, and yes, i did pick it up in a session.
Nice little tune but should bar 13 be structured like that? It sounds a little off on my abc program but maybe that’s the way its supposed to be, is it?
“Planxty Gan Ainm” ~ ain’t it about time? ~ our tomb of the unknown tune?
I suspect this is someone’s idea of a ‘Planxty’ don’t you think, with all that lack of agreement throughout?
If you picked it up in a session I’d throw it back down then, and learn some of the traditional repertoire.
Yes, it is supposed to be structured like that.
Now Dow, settle down lad, he can always beat it to death with a bodhran ~ tub-ti-tle, thum-pa-lump ~ …
I still think it is someone’s take on a Planxty, but for who or what?
I like that, sort of Doctor Suessish ~ AAAA!!! The Thump-a-Lumps are coming, run for your lives…
However, ‘bodhran guy’ is a tune conscious sort, not a ‘Thump-a-Lump’ ~ at least I hope not… ;-)
Here do you mind?? Stop rippin the p*ss out of me because I play the bodhran!!
It’s an instrument too you know!
I wasn’t, don’t mix me up with the anti-percussion brigade…
Some of my best friends are thumpers… ;-)
Those poor Aussies live in fear. Have you seen some of the things they thump and thrum down there?
Ah now, look at Darius he’s one of the best drum-makers around!!
