Peacock’s feathers

the two peacock’s feathers tunes are often played together here in portland, with the low one going first. i’ve also heard the second one preceded by delahanty’s hornpipe.

Also Played by Frankie Gavin

Both tunes appear on his classic album of c. 1977 w/Alec Finn.

Another Barndance!

Yup, though with the loss of the dancing this one smears closer to a hornpipe, it is a barndance and some of the traces of that remain…

= Schottische / German / Barndance

Here’s the version I got off Joe Dowling in Carlow/ Kilkenny. He also calls it Willie Copley’s from whom he learnt it off.

Origin…

This is an Irish version of the Scottish tune “The ”Glasgow Highlanders“. I doubt if it was ever called ”The Peacock’s Feather" before it was paired with the other hornpipe of that name by Frankie Gavin and Alec Finn on their 1977 Shanachie recording, but I could be wrong about that.
