First Century Reel

This tune was played by Ruby Meeks and I think he may have written it.
It’s transcribed from some old notes I had on file from a workshop I attended over 20 years ago. I don’t know who gave the workshop - it was at a festival in England - and I haven’t got a recording at the moment to check this for accuracy.
A great fiery tune though.

I’m positive it was written by Rudy, has been recorded up in Shetland, you could poss access the recordings. Thanks, NSJ

I’ve got a tunebook I picked up in Canada which credits Rudy Meeks as the author. Willie Hunter has recorded it and it seems to be well known to Shetland musicians

Re: First Century

Brid Harper recorded a really nice version of this one too.

First Century, X:2

X:2 is transcribed from Brid Harper’s recording. This tune just jumped out at me after listening to her CD a few times. Got to get this one down!

Rudy Meeks recorded this tune on Vinyl LP Record, Mariposa Music CSPS-694, ZSP1189MA where he is credited with composing it. Album is titled "Canadian Fiddle Sound - Rudy Meeks - North American Fiddle Champion". He plays it with each part repeated, and starting on the "B" part (as I’ve got it notated).
