Six comments

Bears a resemblance to a tune called “The Milltown Lasses” as played on “Hidden Fermanagh” CDs.

Set idea

Darragh Murphy follows with a great (J.Doherty’s?))version of Trim the Velvet on the Another Generation CD. A powerful set!

Your barlines are all in the wrong place. It should read:

X: 1
T: The Drake’s Neck
R: reel
M: 4/4
L: 1/8

The Drake’s Neck, X:2

This is a tune we got from mandolinist extraordinaire, Marla Fibish. She told me she learned it long ago in the traditional method. She heard it at a music party or some such event and hummed it to herself all the way home. When she arrived she got out her mandolin to establish it in her head and on her instrument. She didn’t know what the name was, but we eventually sorted out it was called, “The Drake’s Neck,” and that’s the name she gave it when her Trad band, “Three Mile Stone,” recorded it. It’s unique to all other versions I’ve heard so I think of it as Marla’s setting… which I really like and this is the way it’s usually played in sessions in the SF Bay Area.
