Sorry to butt in, but what sort of speed do you play this at, ‘c’, just out of interest. Q:?

“Biddy Barry’s Schottische” ~ sans the gingerbread ;-)

Biddy Barry’s

Lovely tune - who is / was Biddy Barry?

Sorry for butting in like that. Someone did that to me as I was posting a tune recently, and I was most annoyed by it :-)

Biddy Barry’s

OK, when I submitted my comment there wasn’t anything about the source under Comments.
Sounds a great collection, is this tune typical? (i.e. are there a lot of dance tunes in it?)

You’ll never be satisfied Dow… You do know I just took poor ol’ slainte to the train ~ late! He is on his way to Leeds. I made him teach me a couple of his favourite tunes, one jig and one reel. It was hard getting him to slow down and take it a measure at a time, for this ol’ man… He was having such a rollicking good time here he was doing origami… I forgot to pack him a lung though… You know, rice cakes and saki…

Remember those lovely single malt Scotches we’ve got. I wish you’d warned me to hide them away, he finished them both off… ;-)

Roche collection

Amazon UK”s got several copies of the Roche collection - but at 72 quid each. Sigh.

Hi Pippa ~

Yes, it is a favourite of mine, but my copy is in the hands of a friend at the moment. There are over 500 tunes in it total and despite the scary prices some folks are asking you can still find a copy occassionally, or you could borrow one. There are some lovely tunes in it, and different settings for old standards. It is also nicely ~ basic transcriptions. I think you’ll also enjoy what Roche has to say about the state of things in the 20’s…things that were afoot the last decade of the 1800’s in Eire ~ stuggles for power and the foundation of ‘organization’ for the music and dance… You know, ‘politics’… :-/

Use the price comparison sites, like ~

http://www.addall.com/

And try the different ISBN’s above. I have seen it for around 20 quid.

I’ve just checked a couple of those sites, I have a list of about 20, and I’ve gotten prices from 12 to 14 quid, and up to the sill numbers. I think the highest was 78…

Thanks Pippa, you’re query means I can ignore Dow… :-D

Unlike you Marcus, sensitive soul that you are, I wasn’t annoyed. I couldn’t stop laughing…

Roche

Thanks for that URL - I hadn’t come across that site before. 20 quid’s fine. Like the idea of background rather than just pages of dots (that should be ‘just’ pages of dots).

Glad to be of use - I was about to apologise for interrupting you and Dow -
