This tune is the first polka of three on track 11 of Volume 12 of Matt Cunningham’s CD series “Dance Music of Ireland”.

Doyle’s Polka

This was recorded by the Boys of the Lough on their 1992 album ‘The Fair Hills of Ireland’ under the title “Maurice O‘Keeffe’s”, in the key of G. It can also be found in Johnny O’Leary’s Collection as “Jimmy Doyle’s No.2” in the key of D.

X: - - - Tom Billy’s - also known as:

Doyle’s (7149), Jimmy Doyle’s, Maurice O’Keeffe’s, Polc Uí Dhúil, Polca Uí Dhubhghaill, The Abbey Ceili Band (15461), The Abbey Ceili Band Polka No. 2… Which has been, with this submission (17795), here in triplicate, see previous numbers…

Re: Tom Billy’s

I apologize for the triplicate but I was first searching with the name, with the abc, and even the Reverend Abc Tune Search http://abctunesearch.com/ was unable to find the tune. So I believed it was not already here…
How do you proceed to find these numbers ?

Re: Doyle’s

Found a couple of other tunes that might also be versions of Doyle’s, saving the comments here just in case:

Johnny Dennehy’s
This Polka is the second tune in a set played by Abbey Ceili Band for the first figure of the setdance Sliabh Luachra. They name this tune Johnny Dennehy’s but I’m not sure if this name is correct because they often mix up the names of tunes.

I knew the latter as a separate polka (maybe it is), and for some reason, Tunepal was having trouble finding it on The Session - maybe they have an old DB.
