Well, it was a challenge wasn’t it?
There you go. The New National Anthem for the New Islands Just Off The Coast of New Western Europe.
Hope you like …
The first two notes are ‘F’ and, in movable sol fa systems, ‘re’, which is the ‘New’ ‘ru’. There’s no ‘B’ in the first part, and it’s kind of lax, ‘cos of those long notes.
Nice to see you out of the closet Ben… 8-) & a damn nice tune too if I do say so myself, even if the title makes me go cross-eyed…
Ooh! I forgot to mention where this came from …
So now, all ye citizens of the New Islands Just Off the Coast of New Western Europe (affectionately known as ‘Nigel’ for reasons not entirely clear) …
ONE MORE TIME WITH FEELING!!!
[And STAND UP boy when the anthem’s playing!]
…and Frank would be delighted.
Looks like my challenge wasamply rewarded - well done.
“Hunchentoot” ~ Frank Zappa
~ ~ ~
Ladies and gentlemen,
Which the peasants in this area call FRUNOBULAX
(Apparently a very large poodle dog)
Has just been seen approaching The Power Plant
Bullets can’t stop it
Rockets can’t stop it
We may have to use NUCLEAR FORCE!
HERE COMES THAT POODLE DOG!
BIG AS A BLIMP WITH A RHINESTONE COLLAR
SNAPPIN’ OFF THE TREES
LIKE THEY WAS BONSAI’D ORNAMENTS ON A DRY-WOBBLE LANDSCAPE
KEEP IT AWAY! DON’T LET THE POODLE BITE ME!
WE CAN’T LET IT REPRODUCE! OH!
SOMEBODY GET OUT THE PANTS!

~ Frank Zappa, lyrics from his song "Cheepnis" for "Reefer Madness", a particularly and intentionally cheesy musical Sci-Fi B-movie script, "Hunchentoot"…
..you can hear Cheepnis on Roxy & Elsewhere. Lead vocal by none other than Napoleon Murphy Brock…
Now that’s traditional Irish music right there.
I’m still laughing knowing now that Ben Hall has a poodle named "Frunobulax"… 8-)
Hey Ben, is it bright pink, trimmed with a ball on the end of its tail and with a bright gaudy rhinestone collar?
Nah, it’s gotta be diamante!
… with matching handbag …
My tune - me playing it:
