The bunny’s hat

composed by dave lim, and on the Steve Finn, Andrew Dinan and John Joe Kelly album: Before the Flood, and also on Michael Mcgoldricks album

Nice one :-))

It’s a killer tune.

I was using the ABC search engine called "JC’s ABC Tune Match at trillian.mit.edu" (http://trillian.mit.edu/~jc/cgi/abc/tunefind) and I found this version here. It’s pretty much note for note on how McGoldrick plays it. Enjoy.

I used to play in a band called ‘Reed Riot’ with David Lim, and another well-known piper Becky Taylor (early nineties) ‘Bunnie’s Hat’ had just been written at that time (originally called ‘Mending the Bunnies Hat’ - forgive me, Dave…) with another tune of David’s which was just as good - and in the unusual key of F sharp minor. I can’t remember the name of it, but next time I see him, I’ll remind him about it and post it up. David was (and probably still is) a great tune writer and ace piper - as well as a really nice bloke

Argh, I swear I’ve heard this tune on one of Lunasa’s albums… but what was it called there??

No, it was the Butter Dogs, that’s it!!!! Ahh, nevermind, my brain finally worked…

Hexatonic (not a minor or dorian 6th on sight)

Sunny Shat

This tune has a really strange melody: I heard it a few years ago in a session in Sligo (if I don’t remember bad) and immediately I wrote it.. and today, playing, I remembered it

Re: Sunny Shat

Sunny Shat, that’s is quite funny but not its name. It’s called The Bunny’s Hat. Written by David Lim and already here.

Re: Sunny Shat

…it is one of the best Chinese whispers I’ve heard for a while though.

Re: The Bunny’s Hat

There are a few too many notes in bar 1, fashioneer.

Re: The Bunny’s Hat

Ha-ha, Nigel: very subtle! There’s only one bar with 128 notes in it, if I’ve got my maths right!

The Bunny’s Hat, X:6

Would this be correct, Fashioneer?

I’ve just added the bars and I’m assuming there are repeats…
