Another great tune from The Gift CD by Jerry O’Sullivan. It is probably closer to a Strathspey than a Reel.
Why do I think I’ve heard this on like a dozen Cape Breton CDs? Would have figured those recordings would have popped up as having this tune, but maybe there just aren’t that many CB CDs posted on this site. Could always go by a different name I guess too. Anywho.

Jesse Smith
This is a great tune, but as ceolachan points out it’s actually a strathspey and it is D major - all these c’s are sharp.
Anyone knows a version to be played on GHP or smallpipes. So far, I have managed to get this far…
Re: Jessie Smith
This one’s on Dara Smith - MacDonald ‘s cd ’ Connections’ in a wonderful set comprising Miss Crawford / Jesse Smith /Cameron’s got his Wife Again /Miss Stephanie Marie MacLean /Junior Fraser’s/ Joan… Cone /MacArthur Road/ Malcolm Finlay. And that’s just track 11!
Re: Jessie Smith
Yes, it’s on lots of CB cds- the aforementioned Dara Smith - MacDonald ‘s ‘Connections’ & also on Joe Peter MacLean ‘s ‘Back of Boisdale’. And on many more no doubt!
