Roaring Mary

This is the third reel in the Joe Cooley set which starts with the Humours of Tulla followed by the Skylark. In many sessions if you start with the Humours of Tulla it’s taken for granted that the other two will follow.

Here’s another interpretation of the tune:

Several sources attribute this reel to Michael Coleman.

Called Foxie Mary on Cape Breton fiddler Joe MacLean’s album.

Roaring Mary, X:3

Very similar to the first setting here, but with a three subtle differences:
1. substitutes c for e in the first half of bars 3, 7, and 15;
2. replaces the F roll at the end of bar 3 with a passage parallel to those in bars 7 and 15;
3. replaces the 4th bar with a passage parallel to bars 8 and 16.
