This comes from the Arcady album ‘After The Ball’.

I don’t have a copy of the album anymore, so I can’t tell if there’s a proper name to it, if it’s trad or a recent tune and all that

On the album, it goes with another reel that’s also named after Jackie and which can be found here in the tunebook as well.

Ah, what a lovely piece it is!

What about the 2nd reel?

The first of the two Jaclie Daly’S reels Arcady play is particularly interesting. I find it easier to play it with an whistle in the key of A.
The wide range of the tune forces flute and whistle players to invert 2nd and 1st octaves here and there, but the tune retains its magic. At least that’s how I feel about it.
What about the 2nd reel. I fail to find it or TheSession. Is it entered under another name?

Jackie Daly’s #1: The Cacodemon ?

Checking the Kathryn Tickell Band 1991 recording on which I first heard this tune, I see that it is given the title “The Cacodemon” - and the tune also appears with the same name on Wooden Flute Obsession Vol 2. Disc 1, Track 19, played by Tom McElvogue. https://thesession.org/recordings/1076

No idea whether Jackie called it that…

1st tune on “Youtube” clip……

This reel was certainly recorded by “The Wild Geese” - with Gerry [ from Tipperary ] O’Connor playing fiddle rather than banjo. They called it “The Cacodemon”.
