Common Session Tune
A good solid common irish session tune, enjoyable on any instrument. AKA as "Reidy Johnson’s" & "Hand Me Down The Tackle". One of the few tune names with a dangling participle.
Here is a transcription of a version by Sean Ryan. Not all that different from that already posted, but it shows his ornamentation. Same key etc.

Here’s a transcription of another version played by Declan Masterson on the uilleann pipes on his recording ‘End of the Harvest’:

In my opinion this one somehow flows a little better than the one written here.
Its a nice little banjo tune;)
Not the tune on “The Godfather”
The tune Mr. Rooney plays on "The Godfather" listed as "Tom Steele" is known by some as "Tilly Finn´s" ( Fred Finn´s sister ).
This tune is in the Gunn Book (Fermanagh 1865) as The Boys of New York
Uh…
There’s no dangling participle, Brad…maybe if it was "Hand Me The Tackle Down".

I only ever knew this tune as Hand Me Down the Tackle
Johnny Henry’s version
This version goes down to middle c, which sounds sort of cool. Much more triplets, maybe the Donegal influence.

Here is the version published by O’Neill in Dance Music of Ireland - 1001 Gems (1907), p. 100, no. 539, as Tom Steele.
Query…..?
I’m just wondering, you’re posting a lot of tunes here, "Moxhe", several in one day, whereas 1 person only used to be allowed to post 1 tune per day. Most of the tunes you are posting seem to come out of books. Do you play all of these tunes ? Are they common tunes in your local sessions ? Just genuinely curious.
Hand Me Down The Tackle, X:7
Yet another setting; I play it as a dance version.
