Another great Shetland reel - Jenna Reid pairs this nicely with Delting Lasses (#8060) on the CD ‘Da Homin’ - I derived this transcription from JC tunefinder
The key is ambiguous, as both c nat and c# appear, so it could be A mix
Here’s some info from Ibiblio:
UP AND DOON DA HARBOUR. Shetland, Reel. A Minor/Mixolydian. Standard. AABB. Source for notated version: J. Irvine via Tom Anderson (Shetland) [Anderson & Georgeson]. Anderson & Georgeson (Da Mirrie Dancers), 1970; pg. 19. Carlin (Master Collection), 1984; No. 121, pg. 77.
Not a bad tune at all… simple. I have listened to Shetland stuff enough to know what it is and the similarities and differences compared to other styles, but I am wondering with a tune this simple and straight forward, what kind of ornamentaion, would be used? Drones, rolls, syncopation?
I like this!
The first couple of bars sound a bit like another good A minor reel called Miss Shepherd’s!

american-yahoo-heilander,
i play this tune with a "dotted" rythn and some drones (also the occasional flick of the 3rd finger too!) just depends how i want it to sound =]
It’s funny, I learned this tune by ear in 1994 as a young girl in 1992, and only now did I find out it has a name! 😉
