Bobby Gardiner Composition

I learned this from Bobby Gardiner’s album of the same name. It’s a lovely little tune in which some smart ideas come out of a simple melody.

John Carty also recorded a really nice version of this tune too.

Fair play for putting this up. When i could only learn by ear, i gave this one an attempt but quickly forgot about it. Now it’s back in the mind. A cool little tune. Now im going to get cracking on kimmel’s too

The Clare Shout

Bar 3 is wrong Dont know the right notes though so i probably dont have any right to comment

3rd bar (A part)

This tune is a favorite of mine. Lots of room for banjo ornaments, and that D arpeggio in the 3rd bar (which sounds right to me if you compare it to the playing in the video) has kind of a distinctive flair. There’s something going on in the playing on the video in the 2nd-3rd bars of the B part that’s different from the notation, but I’d have to spend some time listening to really figure out what she’s doing. It’s close to the notated version, in any case.

The Clare Shout, X:2

This is what I got from the playing of Dessie Kelliher.
He taugh this during the “Banjoy 2017” workshop weekend in Germany.

Re: The Clare Shout

LOVELY, I SAY LOOOOOVELY TUNE…SOUNDS LIKE ANOTHER TUNE, AT LEAST, THE B PART…ALSO, A LOVING, HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN DAD AND SON…THAT’S WORTH IT ALL….I WILL LEARN IT….DAVID IN AUSTIN, TX

Re: The Clare Shout

Nobody above has actually given Bobby Gardiner the credit as the composer of this jig. It’s on page 113 of his “A Complete Guide To The Irish Button Accordion” book / 3 x CD tutor set.
He says “I wrote this tune in 1995 when Clare won the All-Ireland Senior Hurling title”.
He has it in the key of “C”.

Re: The Clare Shout

I think this has some similarities with Luachracán / Junior Crehan’s
