Reel Setting

This tune is also played as a reel. There are several versions of it. Micho Russell recorded a much different version and Jackie Daly recorded one similar to this but also different in some phrases. The Rising Sun reel doesn’t seem to be posted here but a close variant on it is. That is, The Old Blackthorn or The Blackthorn Stick (not to be confused with the jig of the same title.)

I could post the reel if someone wanted but I would need time to iron out it out because there are so many versions. Should I post it here or as a new tune?

Yes, I had considered doing something similar. Go for it Paddy, I for one would welcome it, and you could add some variations on the tune in the comments… I’ll keep a look out for it… Thanks for offering…
