Haul Away The Hawser

A 2/4 tune which I got from The Boat Band’s album "A Trip To The Lakes", a selection of tunes known to have been played in the English Lake District in the recent or distant past by local musicians. Like various other two-four tunes from Northern England it seems to go a trifle slower and more relaxed than a Kerry polka - though I dare say, tweaked up, this one could work as such.

This tune appears to be just a polka version of the reel ‘Comely Jane Downing’ appearing in O’Neill’s (ON1850 #1461, ON1001 #692).
