Five comments

"Mollly Eamonn Mor"

From ‘The Keegan Tunes, Vol. 1’-

"Molly Eamonn Mor - an ancestor - maternal from Inniskeen / Rassan area - a great patriot. ‘Twas said she carried the pikes under her shawl."

Must have been either very short pikes or a very long shawl, but I like the tune in either case!

"Molly Eamonn Mor"

Just caught a couple mistakes:

That should be ‘Molly’ with 2 l’s and not 3, as was the case in my first comment, and it should be ‘B’ and not ‘b’ in the first full measure of the turn. Sorry about that. Hopefully Jeremy or someone can fix it.

Molly Eamonn Mor, X:2

I like Molly Eamonn Mor in D-minor, which follows nicely from Raven’s Wing in A-minor.

Admittedly, it is easier in E-minor 🙂

Molly Eamonn Mor, X:3

Basic transcription from the above-mentioned playing of Martin Meehan (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HG06wmHw0Tk).

Martin Meehan plays the tune in D dorian with - I suspect - a C Grinter flute (there’s a clip on his FB page where he plays this tune with such a flute). When transcribing the tune, I transposed it in E dorian so as to preserve fingering and ornamentation (especially the highly effective triplets and D cranns) on a D flute.

Great tune and great playing.
