The Road to Youghal

I got this reel from ‘Paddy O’Brien’s Sets: Tune Sets Arranged by Paddy O’Brien, Co. Tipperary’, edited by Dave Gabol and John Walsh and available at Ceolas-

http://www.ceolas.org/tunes/

It’s the first of a 3 tune set, followed by ‘Conlan’s Well’ and ‘The Holly Bush’. The third is well known, but I couldn’t find the first two on this site. Assuming they aren’t duplicated I’ll post the second, ‘Conlan’s Well’ in a few days.

The Road To Youghal - also a song, unrelated to the posted reel

Yes, it’s the title of a song which I heard sung by Teesside singer Vin Garbutt on his 70s album "King Gooden". It has a nice catchy tune which I’ll attempt to put in abc’s as follows:

X: 1
T: The Road To Youghal (song tune, distinct from posted reel)
M: 9/8
L: 1/8
R: Slip jig (to begin with)
K: G Major

The Road to Youghal - Song

Yikes, those meter changes remind me of some German traditional that I’ve seen sheet for, they bounce back and forth between measures of 2/2 and 3/2! Thanks for the comment, haven’t ever heard the song.
