Hope it’s not another self-composed tune.

Tune Police

I hope it is another self-composed tune - where have all the others come from?

Lets allow our tradition to develop naturally and not stagnate - after all we allow foreigners to play our music - perhaps their native influences may harm our tradition as much as self-composed tunes?

Imagine if someone had stopped Reavey with these types of attitudes - we would be all the poorer for that.

BTW - I am delighted that foreigners play our music and would never suggest that they ought not to!

Not much of a tune

I didn’t think much of the tune. In regard to the above link, to the discussion of new tunes, this is apposite:

“…those … who COMPOSE and submit their compositions, and nothing else, haven’t a bloody clue, seem not only arrogant, but out of touch with the tradition all together. Most of what those sorts submit is twisted and uncomfortable or downright Frankenstein’s monsterish.”

I think this would apply to the current tune. This is the ONLY contribution that the poster has made to the site.

I know my first comment was very unfriendly. But I still believe even negative feedback is better than none. Hope Michele will share a story behind this tune with us.

Nice to hear from you, Michele. Could you share your experiences in Doolin with us? Seems it was not a short stay.
