Great reel written by accordion player Dougie Hunter. I learnt it from the first album from Daimh, ‘Moidart to Mabou’

Oh, I really like this tune, on first playing. I think I’ll now pass it on to everyone I know…

Nice!

People would play this tune as a barndance in Ireland.

Would they? Wow, it’s played as a full on reel here. Fun tune any way.

Which goat?

Which Goat Island? Maine? New York?

Neither, it’s Scottish not American. There are numerous Goat Islands round Scotland, usually not on the map as they are often just rocky islets that hardy goats were kept on. This one is likely to be around Moidart as that is where the Goat Island Ceilidh Band were based.

Mighty good tune!

This is such a wonderful, lively reel. Playing it with Charlie McKerron’s Sabhal Mòr Ostaig fiddle class in concert was a real treat! Just trying it on concertina (I can stagger G tunes!) to follow the wonderful Mike MacDougall march, ‘Memories of Father Angus MacDonnell’.

As I hear it played on whistles.
