Sophie’s Rescue

Another tune from “Between Words”…
This jig is played in Bb(?) on the album, which is kinda crazy. But it sounds sort of dead when I play it on the fiddle… so I transposed it to D. Here’s my original transcription.

I would have posted this as the primary score for this tune, but Bb major was unavailable in the list of keys… The closest I could get was C dorian and it’s not a particularly minor sounding tune.
I know nothing about the origins of it. Would like to find out though, so if you know anything, bring it on. Cool beans.

are you shure about that sharp…???
sounds a bit odd to me…

I’m fairly sure it’s right, and yes, it most certainly does sound odd. If you hear Ce playing it, the atonal #4/b5 quality of that note is used for a certain effect.
I typically leave it out when playing, because I don’t think it sounds all that good for anything but the recording… I’d imagine you’d get some weird looks playing it in front of anyone with that note in there. :p
I really just put it in in order to be true to the recording,
