Despite what you may think from the title, what you can readily tell from the melody is that this wasn’t written by flute-player June McCormack…
For this, the story is basically this:
About a month ago, I went to O’Flaherty’s Irish Music Retreat for my second year, and June McCormack was the guest instructor for flute. There were some good tunes and techniques I learned in her classes, and am breaking some bad habits now, too.
Overall, she is a great player and teacher and did a great job teaching, so the last day of the retreat, I went to a quiet, empty building and wrote this tune for her. And since it’s thanksgiving, I figured I’d post this one, because I’m thankful for her teaching.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this is already an existing tune, because tunes don’t usually come as easily to me as this one did…
Anyways, hope you all like it!
Nice tune, good job!
