This is a tune, presented without any ornamentation, that I composed for the pipes and have been playing with my contradance band for a few years. We usually precede it with Paddy Keenan’s Twirly-haired Girl (one of my absolute favourite tunes). The dancers seem to find it trance inducing. I like it best played accompanied by an F# drone. The title comes from one of the central characters in The Silmarillion, who came to mind one day while I was playing the tune.
