Don’t really know anything about this tune, I found it scribbled on a bit of manuscript I had laying around. A nice wee polka though.
Ah, from ‘Along Blackwater’s Bank’s’ by Sliabh Notes.
Martin Mulvihill plays this on his album ‘Traditional Irish Fiddling From County Limerick’ (https://thesession.org/recordings/2175). The sleeve notes say, "Kinard is located in Glin, a mile from Ballyloughlin. There used to be a popular dance held regularly at a crossroads nearby. ‘The Kinard Polka’ was a favourite tuen there, and Martin picked it up from listening to the local players."
Looks ‘Kinard to play!!
The old ones are the good ones, Abram.
We love ‘em
