Can anyone tell me the name of this tune? It popped back into my head the other day after many years. It’s got overtones of Rolling in the Ryegrass but it’s distinctly different. I think it’s Irish but the fiddler who showed me played it with a Shetland tune so it may be from there.
I wonder if you were thinking of Aly Bain’s tune "Annalese Bain" (written by him for his daughter), which appears on his "Lonely Bird" album. The album is already here but that tune is not. It would confirm your idea of a Shetland connection. I don’t think your version is exactly the same but it’s very similar, especially in the "A" part.
