"The Fairy Waltz" ~ other sighting and other ways with it…

"Hidden Fermanagh: Traditional Musicv and Song from County Fermanagh"

Here, a different transcription, they give the B-part as 16 bars repeated, and as played on the first CD produced in association with the book. Here’s another transcription, also different, showing that ~

"The Fairyland Waltz" ~ also played in G & A & with a "trio" too…

I tend to favour 32 bar waltzes, for 32 bar dances, which explains my inclinations with this one, however, it is also played fully doubled, 64 bars, meaning that the A & B parts are 16 bars each, both repeating, and it can also be found played with a "Trio", which can also be doubled, 16 bars and repeated = 32 bars.

"The Fairy / Fairyland Waltz" trio ~ going from D Major to G Major

Here it is first as 8-8 and then as 16-16… As I use waltzes like this for 32 bar dances, and prefer the quicker change, or A8-A8-B8-B8 I tend to play them 32 bars, but I also enjoy the longer doubled waltzes too… this will give you more choices than you like, but generally I don’t play the trio. I’ll chase up an earlier source than me for you to make some comparisons and choices on your own, unless someone beats me to it first…

Here’s that trio in G Major ~
