Kilfenora (B) Jig

This is the second in the set of three jigs from Clare’s Kilfenora Ceili Band which have been played together this way since the mid fifties, around the time the Band won the All-Ireland in 3 consecutive years (1954,1955 & 1956).

Kilfenora (B) Jig

The third Kilfenora jig was submitted on September 3, 2002 by Mark the Fiddler while the first one is also on this site and is sometimes called Paddy’s Return.

In the penultimate bar of the first and last parts, it goes down to a low C, Fsharp, C.
This must be the flute version

Will, you seem to be going through a Danu(vian) phase at present. They do seem to have a few great tunes/settings on their CD’s.

The first part was used as part of ‘King of morning, Queen of day’ in Horlips’ Book of Invasions.

The last part

Hi,

There is a little mistake on the ABC. The last part is played twice as usual, and not 4 times ! The extra ‘:’ must be removed :

The Kilfenora Jig

Does anybody know the name of the jig which is sometimes added to 5-part Kilfenora Jig to make it 7 parts please?

What I like about this 5 part jig is that it seems to direct the dancer’s, instructs or call them perhaps even encourage them!

Help

Does any one know if it’s attached to a particular (set) dance?

A perfectly timed “Haymakers Jig”…

Re: The Kilfenora

Hi there,
could you help me please. I got across that tune here on youtube
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muA-EnwId4Q

they say its the kilfenora jig but it doesn’t match any version displayed here. So maybe they are wrong. Do you know what tune that is?
cheers and thx
Jean
