Five comments

Taken from a youtube video of Michael O‘Connell, Geraldine O’Callahan & Karol Lynch from a recent “name that tune” discussion:

I don’t know anything about this tune, but for all I know it sounds like it could be a Spanish tune, but I wouldn’t know.
Either way, I find it to be a great tune, and I wish they played it more than twice!

And I hope I got it right. If I didn’t please correct me before it gets converted.

I think it is maybe Asturian - I think Tejedor play it.

I just realized I did make a mistake in the first part… pretty noticeable one I’d say.

In that clip, they play:

Egads…

Cristina Pato & The Silk Road Ensemble version

There’s a brilliant version of this by Cristina Pato and The Silk Road Ensemble on their “Live at Tanglewood” DVD, along with Muiñeira De Pontesampaio (https://thesession.org/tunes/6660). Sadly no related studio version or live album.

(The tracklist of this recording says that this is Muiñeira de Ourense rather than Muiñeira do Ariel but this doesn’t fit with any other recordings I’ve heard or the dots here on the session)
