Up THe Stroods

As far as I know this is a traditional Shetland Tune. I know that there are different variations but this is the version as played on the album Sit On This by the Park Bench Social Club, and this is the version that I play in sessions.

I have heard it played with either extra bars or a bar missing at the end of each b part. I believe that it is played on the Transatlantic Sessions Volume 3 with this variation and also with a G sharp, as if it was in B Dorian.

Up da stroods = up the ropes.

Love the Jenna and Mairi video. Thanks for sharing, Oirish!
